The publishing house Friedrich-Maerker-Verlag is an independent publisher that specializes in bilingual and multilingual children’s books and books for young adults. Our motto is: “Learning while reading”. We offer bilingual books, reversible books, retellings of classics and fairy tales alongside simply exciting stories. Promoting languages and reading are two key elements that help prepare children to be able to shape their own future in a self-determined and critical manner. The books published are educationally prepared, many contain questions, illustrations and additional information about the text, which gives the reader help and suggestions without being forced upon them. It also makes it easier to use the books in school lessons, for in-depth study or introductions. Nevertheless, the books are also intended for self-study and, of course, joyful reading.
The languages currently offered include: Spanish, German, English, French, Italian, Portuguese, Polish, Russian, Hungarian, Hebrew, Turkish, Arabic and Persian.

Hotte Hü – Pictorial Dictionary
Authors comment: After making my own pet the protagonist of my first pictorial dictionary, I chose a passion of mine for the second one, horses. Hotte Hü is a horse pictorial dictionary that is available in six languages (Spanish, English, French, German, Portuguese and Italian).
In addition to the various book projects listed above, I have developed my own pictorial dictionary. Of course, there are already various pictorial dictionaries on the market, but I first made a cat pictorial dictionary and then a horse pictorial dictionary with many detailed drawings. I really enjoyed the work and another one is already planned, this time it will be about trees.
My dictionaries are in six languages, which means you can find Spanish, English, French, German, Portuguese and Italian in one book. To make it easier to distinguish, each language is assigned a color. For clarity, Spanish is printed in red font, English in blue font, French in green font, German in purple font, Portuguese in turquoise font and Italian in orange font. Each drawing is numbered; on the following page you will find the corresponding terms and their assignment by number. The drawing is then shown again without numbers in order to check or practice the knowledge acquired. At the end of the book there is an appendix in which the terms are listed again in tabular form, sorted by topic. The foreword offers references to responsibility for the animal, as well as how to treat the animal.
Even though it is a dictionary, it is also a non-fiction book. The book can be used in a variety of ways, simply as a reference work, as a dictionary, as a non-fiction book, which can of course be used in schools to acquire knowledge or in a playful way to expand and consolidate knowledge. The focus is on the animal, and attention is also paid to the colors and gaits, as well as the care and animal’s welfare.
